Celebrity charities are by and large horseshit shell corporations – if not outright scams – to give their friends and families cushy jobs that pay them with donated money to do basically jackshit. And if you think Lady GaGa is a special hermaphroditic snowflake of artistic integrity who’s different than all the other celebrities, congratulations, you’re what we call in the biz “a mark.” Showbiz 411 reports:
The foundation, which lists Gaga’s lovely mom, Cynthia Germanotta, as president, had a lot of expenses in 2012 that had nothing to do with helping anyone. They spent $300,000 on “Strategic Consulting (web, digital),” $62,836 on “Stage Productions (Harvard, LA, UN),” $50,000 on “SocialMedia,” and another almost $50,000 on “Event Coordination.”
What?
Born this Way also spent: $808,661 on “other”; $406,552 on “Legal”; $150,000 on “Philanthropic Consulting”; $60,000 on “research”; 58,768 on “Publicity fees”; $78,000 on “travel”. They spent $72,000 on salaries– presumably for running the Born this Way bus, although that episode had its own expense line.
Under ‘grants to organizations or individuals”: $5000. Five thousand dollars.
Here’s the mission statement for the Born This Way Foundation which amazingly wasn’t just a picture of Lady GaGa’s vagina wearing a top hat. Although I’m sure it will be after someone just read that sentence, so help yourself. It’s on the house.
Led by Lady Gaga and her mother Cynthia Germanotta, the Born This Way Foundation was founded in 2011 to foster a more accepting society, where differences are embraced and individuality is celebrated. The Foundation is dedicated to creating a safe community that helps connect young people with the skills and opportunities they need to build a kinder, braver world.
We believe that everyone has the right to feel safe, to be empowered and to make a difference in the world. Together, we will move towards acceptance, bravery and love.
“It’s tough out here being gay in a predominantly white, Christian world, Lady GaGa. Help!”
“Sure. I’ll give $5,000 to an LBGT group in Denver and nothing else for the rest of the year.”
“I live in Detroit.”
“Haha! Then you’re fucked.”

The Born This Way Foundation, ladies and gentlemen.
